Colleen is an active member of the Milpitas community and is the current president of the Milpitas Rotary Club. Her amount of dedication to the community has afforded her the title of Business Person of the Year in 2007 by the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce.
Colleen brings together a unique team with diverse backgrounds at South Bay Teachers College. It started by offering early childhood education units for preschool teachers and Montessori teacher education. It is now expanding to meet the needs and requirements of California for preschool teachers and eventually to offer a continuing education program.
Calaveras Montessori is a traditional Montessori School. All Primary staff have formal Montessori education, which is the key to a Montessori school.
Each teacher takes an extensive full-time college education specific to Montessori. The teacher learns how to work with the “whole” child.
When children leave Calaveras Montessori School, not only are they usually ahead academically, they have the tools necessary for social interaction, emotional development and a strong sense of themselves. Just ask the founders of Google, both attended Montessori Schools as children and credit their success to their Montessori education.
Colleen is a single mom of two wonderful boys who are 6 and 8 years old. Both boys attended Calaveras Montessori in their primary years and are doing very well in public education.
This year Colleen will be busy with the Milpitas Rotary Club and assisting the school district with the annual crab feed.
